Choosing whether to circumcise your son is a personal decision. At Living Waters Midwifery, our role is to provide evidence-based information, answer your questions, and offer compassionate, individualized care for families who choose circumcision.

One of the unique aspects of our service is that your baby's circumcision is performed in the comfort and privacy of your own home.

No waiting room. No packing up your newborn. No unnecessary trip during those early postpartum days.

Instead, we bring the care to you, with careful attention to sterile technique, pain management, and your baby's safety and comfort.

Before the Procedure

Before your baby's circumcision, we'll review his birth and health history and perform a newborn assessment to ensure it is appropriate to proceed.

We'll also talk through the procedure, potential benefits and risks, alternatives, pain management, healing, and aftercare. You'll have time to ask questions so you can make an informed decision for your family.

During the Procedure

Your baby's comfort and well-being are our priority.

Local anesthesia and additional newborn comfort measures are used to minimize pain, and your baby is carefully monitored throughout the procedure.

Circumcision is performed using sterile technique with gentle handling and careful attention to your baby's well-being. Parents are welcome to remain nearby, and many families appreciate being able to stay in the familiar surroundings of home.

After the Procedure

Before we leave, we'll make sure you feel comfortable caring for your baby during healing.

You'll receive guidance on:

• What normal healing looks like

• Keeping the area clean and protected

• Comfort measures

• Signs that warrant a call or further evaluation

• When and how to contact us with concerns

Our support doesn't end when the procedure is complete. If questions or concerns arise during healing, our team is available to help.

Eligibility

Newborn circumcisions are typically performed beginning at 8 days of age.

Before scheduling, we'll review your baby's birth history, overall health, feeding, weight gain, and any factors that could affect the safety or timing of the procedure.

Vitamin K is not required to schedule circumcision with Living Waters Midwifery. We'll review your baby's individual history and discuss vitamin K, bleeding risk, and any other considerations as part of the informed-consent process.

Circumcision is available by appointment and is not included in the Signature Home Birth Package.
